PARYUSHAN PARVA : The Festival of Forgiveness

Paryushan Parva is an annual Jain festival linked to forgiveness. Members of Jain Community are meant to be observing a strict fasting period for ten days, maintaining abstinence from all worldly pleasures. During this period they nurture their soul by staying simplistic and virtuous in keeping with the teachings of their religion. They ask for forgiveness from all that could have hurt any sentiments knowingly or unknowingly by them and also forgive anyone who has hurt them in any way.

PLASTIC BAG BAN

Plastic bags are banned in KENYA since September 2017. This is a brave step towards conservation of our planet by reducing the usage of at least one of the pollutants. Although people have mixed opinions ref the ban, they have no option but to observe it. I personally feel the masses must be first educated on the ill-effects of plastic usage and advised on alternatives which were prevalent in the plastic-less days.

THE AGED COUPLE

Old age though challenging can be liveable with comfort if one has companionship in the ripened years of life. This poem appreciates the life and spirit of an old couple who faced with difficulties of various sorts are happy being together.
