Panauti and Hanuman

Hanuman Ji trampling Panauti the dark energy. This idol is placed at Hanuman Mandir, Muthiti Road, Nairobi, Kenya .

The word Panauti is considered a bad omen. The term is often used in Hindi language for a jinx, unlucky, bane and is usually titled upon cursed people.

Very commonly people use it as a slang and word it as “Shani ki Panauti “ indicating it as an ill fated time period. Shani refers to the planet Saturn and as per astrology when Saturn weighs heavy upon a person’s life chart everything around a person appears as a dark period, downfall or financial and mental drain. When nothing seems to be going the right way for someone they say, “Shani ki Panauti “

Pictured here is Panauti: the wife of Shani dev (Saturn) trampled upon by Lord Hanuman. Hanuman Ji : the eternal sevak of Lord Shri Ram is known as “vighna haran, mangal Karan “ ( obstacle remover and luck bestower) and here he is shown crushing the bad omen, all negativity by trampling over Panauti. Devotees who have understood this, often come to pray for Hanuman ji for freedom from Panauti and to invoke benevolence of Shri Ram . They offer black grams or black sesame at the feet of Hanuman Ji and wash off with sesame oil symbolizing the removal of dark forces such as Panauti.
