Reiki Therapy at HCK -(A healer’s diary)

It was just a few weeks ago that I came across a poster from the Hindu Council of Kenya that mentioned Reiki Session. I was happy to find that but wondered about who the therapist would be .

Funny enough, I thought about which other group besides my group had started doing free reiki sessions and couldn’t think of any. As the poster had started getting circulated on social media – my family members asked me if I had arranged for the mentioned reiki session and I told them no, I hadn’t.

The next thing I knew, friends were sending me messages if I was conducting that session and once again I fond myself denying any involvement. But by now, i was curious about it and called up the chairlady of HCK asking her about the same. To my surprise (well, not really a surprise) She said the session was booked under my name. I asked about the person heading the directorate of Capacity Building as I wasn’t even familiar with her name.

Of course, then I got to speak to her, meet her and organize the session with planning involving more members from the group Lotus Healing Seva Group and to change the poster catered solely for the event.

The Seva Event:

Reiki Session for 60+ @ Hindu Council of Kenya

A cold Saturday morning was filled with the warmth of Reiki Healing Session for many elderly people from the Asian Community at the Hindu Bhavan, Kusi Lane, Nairobi on 15th July. The Seva event was organized by the Capacity Building directorate of the Hindu Council of Kenya under the leadership of Mrs. Shaina Shah and the able supervision of Mrs. Sujata Kotamraju, the Chairperson of HCK.

LHSG was represented by 11 healers Anuradha Nath, Deepu Mahajan, Fhanreet, Kamal Tolia, Karima Jiwa, Laxmi Vellani, Monica Gokaldas, Prafulla Ganatra, Pratima Dutt, Sejal Shah and Sonal Patel. The morning began with the lighting of the lamp and the circle of love prayers which was then followed by an introduction of Reiki by Kamal Tolia. Without wasting any minute of the precious time, the people from various communities came forward to receive the much awaited Reiki Therapy.  As we healers continued giving reiki to people one after the other, non-stop Kamal Tolia continued to keep rest of the elderly occupied by her further info about reiki, gave them mass healing, answered their queries about the healing, took the feedback of those who had already experienced the therapy and even gave them a brief experience of Forgiveness. It was no surprise to us all as we saw the gleaming faces after the healing and forgiveness.

The session ended with nearly 55 to 60 people having received the reiki therapy within a short span of 2 hours owing to the expertise and seva oriented hearts of the healing friends. After the healing session a sumptuous lunch was served at the premises sponsored by Mr. Mehul Desai who also benefitted from the healing. The group members are grateful to The Hindu Council of Kenya for a well-organized seva opportunity to serve our elderly members and for the honor bestowed upon our Guru Kamal Tolia and myself, Monica by presenting the bouquets and shawls.
