Day of Love
By Sikiladi
Bouquets of flowers red in sight
Roses gather each stall upright
The day to mark love is here
Lovers excited in festive gear
Exchanging gifts is the trend
Dinners and dates with a blend
Parties to occasion the love day
Partners in love in a joyous sway
Building up festivity marketed well
With chocolates and teddy spells
Flower vendors elated with the swells
Ribbon makers delighted to wrap wells
A festival of love extended to friends
Families too celebrate such bonding trends
Yet, it would lose its essence on the shelf
If Valentine’s is celebrated for the self
Love knows no boundaries and limits
It’s time it crosses all warring spirits
Bringing peace to countries estranged
And the calendar moves be happily changed
The needy deserve the valentine care
The heartaches deserve a healing dare
Cuddle and hug the lonely aged folks
Drape the cloth less with love cloaks
Celebrate the festival with all concern
Bring peace to earth’s each troubled region
A call out to all healers and peacemakers
With energy of goodness increase love markers
A call out to all religious leaders and factions
Enhance the acceptance and interfaith tolerance
Then shall we truly celebrate the day of love
Not just a make believe symbol of the peace dove
Make the world your Valentine this time
And spare a kind thought along with the dime

I fondly remember Sri Guru Vaswani JI’s discourses that used to come I think on Sony channel in the morning daily, it was long time ago, of course I had no idea what he spoke as father used to listen to him but I liked his smile, his passion to reach out to us, to tell us everyday what matters. Lovely to go through your timeline, realised you live not in India 🙂

Thank you for subscribing to my site. You do have lovely memories from the past. Indeed Dada’s smile was enigmatic.
