5160th Geeta Jayanti

Geeta Jayanti is the auspicious day of the advent of Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta, the Holy Scripture of all Hindus.  In Dwapur Yug on this day the most talked about dialogue occurred between Shri Krishna and his companion friend Arjun on the battlefield of Kurukshetra wherein Shri Krishna, an incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu imparted the valuable essence of the Vedic knowledge to Arjun. 

Geeta Jayanti occurs on the day of Mokshada Ekadashi also called Matsya Ekadashi as per the Hindu calendar which generally falls during the months of November or December. This year marks the 5160^th Anniversary of the holiest among holy Hindu scriptures Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta on the 22^ndDecember. 

The day is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm in Krishna temples and many Hindu households with major part of the celebration being the Chanting of verses of the Holy text and concluding with the Geeta Arti sung unanimously by the devotees in praise of the Holy Book which is considered a Book of all books and held with utmost reverence. 

It is common knowledge for many knowers that the Bhagwad Geeta has answers to all of life’s quests and that there’s nothing in any other spiritual book of any faith that cannot be found within the eighteen chapters of the Geeta. The text despite being a spiritual book encompasses Life lessons for all age groups of people and over the years there are many different versions of explanations and commentaries by the several wise ones yet the verses remain the same and unchanged in all presentations.
