A bright albeit wet morning with rains showering their benevolence in Nairobi was the day to start early for Pratima and myself as we reached the Aga Khan Primary School to climb up towards the Hawker’s Market Girls Center ( HMGC).
Wading through puddles of water here and there, lifting the LHSG banner and training materials we were at our destination by 8.45am. To my surprise the girls were ready, lined up and waiting our arrival. In an instant I knew that this was a batch that was curious to learn a new discipline.
Training began smoothly and the girls as always were shy to speak, shy to share their thoughts but soon warmed up to us and later they had lots of intelligent questions which I tried answering to the best of my ability.
I felt immense gratitude to be given this opportunity to touch the lives of these young lives and empower them to a discipline that was to bring smiles to many.

Lotus Healing Seva Group 20 years of Reiki Seva: Part 5
LHSG Founder Member Monica Gokaldas carried out a Reiki Level 1 Training for 23 girls of the Hawkers Market Girls Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. She was assisted in this seva by Kenya Members Shariffa Keshavjee (founder of HMGC) and Pratima Parihar.

On 13th February, we had a Reiki level 1 Training camp for 23 girls of the Hawkers Market Girls Centre. This lot of girls was very well educated, and they understood everything very well. Some had questions and I tried answering to the best of my ability. The initial diya (lamp) lighting was done by the youngest person in the room, as we, Pratima and I did our LHSG prayers following which I explained a bit of what our prayers meant.
They all loved the attunement and spoke nicely about it, though many of them were hesitant to let us record. So we recorded only those who were comfortable with the camera.
The self-healing as well as the partner healing went well and we had some positive effects of headache, joint pain getting healed. They all unanimously said they loved both, giving and receiving Reiki, and are eager to practice on others. Shariffaji and Pratima added to the teaching in between and they both were very helpful. LHSG Member Isabella (HMGC Manager) was also well organized on her part.
I felt that by doing this seva, I have invoked the blessings of yesterday’s Magh Punam Mahakumbh Snan, and I feel happy to have introduced Reiki to these young women. Thank you Shariffaji for giving me this opportunity.
