Colors of Spring
By Sikiladi
Colors of spring bring a swing
Celebrating joys with social bling
Breaking the caste and creed barriers
Throwing colors making hearts happier
Sikiladi
To the Triumph of good over evil
Emerged Prahalad out of the peril
Hiranyakashyap’s rigidity quacked
Leading to sister Holika’s bonfire act
Sikiladi
A holistic ritual of Holi colors in action
Haldi, neem and kumkum in jubilation
A cloud of colors on the faces & the air
Adding bright vibrancy and festive flair
Sikiladi
Enhancing Kanha’s symbolic love affair
Red gulal brings charm to the holiday gear
Playfully youthful pink gulal dominant
Invoking compassion and care element
Sikiladi
Hues of the color purple turn ecstatic
Symbolic of divine mystery and magic
Vishnu’s weaving the sunrays for his garment
Adding the translucent yellow pigmentation
Sikiladi
The blue tone of Krishna’s skin semblance
And Nilkantha’s poison pot consumption
Reminds that they saved the creation
Through courage and their right action
Sikiladi
Honoring the enduring love divine
Krishna’s bond with Radha sublime
Holi comes as a reminder pristine
A throw of colors upon thee and thine
Sikiladi
Exchanging sweets and snacks of variety
Jalebi, gathia, gujhiya and thandai
Shots of bhang and card games aplenty
Young ones and elders enjoy the gaiety
Sikiladi
