Re-painting the walls, giving homes a new thrust

Planning rituals of sacred festive charm in pleasure

Comes in Kartik month the observance of leisure

Mata Laxmi’s worship as the chief deity in practice

A must with Ganesh Ji for accounts books’ justice

Festivity and feasting relished with greatest fun

Diwali knits many joys together beautifully spun

The weave of the various symbolic interpretations

In semblance to historic and traditional explanations

Bhagwan Ram’s victory and return to Ayodhya

Symbolic of the ultimate triumph of the Satya

Rows of clay lamps lit up to form a Deep Avali

Hence came forth the term Happy Deepawali

The defeat of the mighty demon Narakasura
