She prayed incessantly

She prayed religiously…

With her earnest sentiments of love…..

Love for the one who has loved her..

Or so she thought!

She fasted…..stayed hungry….for his sake

she prayed…..for him…..for his well being

And……

He played….with her sentiments…..

Trampling over her emotions and affection

She realised not….she was a mere pawn…

Placed in his life….to care for his needs…..

Made to feel like his possession

He churned her thoughts towards guilt…..

If in her duties she ever slipped

She remained subdued, a dependant that she was

it was not just a condition….

Being dependant was her legal status

He stayed oblivious of her needs…her hurts…

And……..

Continued to inflict injustice, ignore her feelings…..

Enticing her with a gift some rare times…….

So, she stays happily committed to the marriage…..

A marriage of convenience…..

His convenience…..Her obedience….

such is her life…..such is her fate….to date…

And…….

Now she has daughters…..for them she thinks….

should they go through the same fate?

Her heart is stronger for them both……

She scans her mind with logic and sense

No! No more of this one sided love affair

Her daughters shall not observe fasts for them…

Them…the men of their lives!

The men of their lives shall fast for her daughters lives

They shall pray for the well being of their wives

in the same measure as she had once prayed…..
