The Ten Heads!
By Sikiladi
A steady intelligence and marveled brilliance
Were the legendary Ravana’s magnificence
Yet he failed his fortune in demonic essence
For he fell from his spiritual self-obedience
Bringing disgrace to his Royal gait and valor
This wise Pandit fell to traits of self-absorb
The heads as fabled to be ten in count
Predominantly his traits giving him surround
The ten heads of his defame
The ten heads of ultimate disdain
The ten traits that we must refrain
Are the Ravana heads for certain
The Kama strain gives a drain
The lust that got him most dis fame
The Krodha trait of irked debate
His anger toppled his own good fate
The Moha encompassed royal Maya
Power delusion ended his mighty Kaya
The Lobha of amassing evermore
His greed was unjust to the core
The Mada made him into a Monster
His Pride caused him results sinister
The Maatsarya made decisions disastrous
Envy made him dangerously erroneous
The Buddhi became Bhrasht and faulty
His bright intelligence in adverse cruelty
The Manas marked his big defeat
His crafty mind became the cheat
The Chitta alas whence impure
The Will to do things turns obscure
The Ahamkara causing misconception
His ego polluted brought all frustration
